USPS mail carrier hurt when truck runs off Perry Co. Road 820

JEFFERSON CITY — A 40-year-old Uniontown who was reportedly delivering the mail at the time, suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash on Perry County Road 820 Tuesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Laura R. Schwein was the driver of a southbound 1994 Grumman LLV (a typical model is shown above) which failed to negotiate a left turn,  ran off the right side of the road and the right side of the vehicle struck a tree.

Glen Morgan, owner of Perry County Towing which was called to the scene  said Schwein is a mail carrier and was delivering the mail at the time of the accident. No word on what may have happened to the undelivered mail, if any, which was still in the truck.

Schwein was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital by private conveyance.

The patrol says the crash happened about 1:27 p.m. north of PCR 816.

The Grumman had extensive damage and was removed from the scene by Perry County Towing.
