Missouri COVID-19 cases fall by 25 percent; cases rise in Perry, Ste. Genevieve Counties

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports 4,954 new cases of COVID 19 for the week ending September 30th.

That’s a drop of 1,682 or 25 percent from the previous week’s total.

There were 28 new cases of COVID-19 in Ste. Genevieve County compared to 10 the previous week. That is 156 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 26 news cases in Perry County compared to 19 the previous week. That is 99.1 per 100,000 population.

Bollinger County had 12 new cases, compared to fewer than 10 the previous week. That is 66 per 100,000 population.

St. Francois County had 99 new cases compared to 128 the previous week. That’s 149 per 100,000 population.

Cape Girardeau had 72 new cases compared to 87 the previous week. That’s 90.6 per 100,000 population.

Jefferson County had 197 new cases compared with 300 new cases the previous week. That’s 87 per 100,000 population.

Ste. Genevieve, Perry, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau and Jefferson Counties are at a medium community level.

The CDC recommends the following measures for persons in St. Francois County and other areas at a high community level:

Wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status, including K-12 schools and other indoor community settings. If you are immuno-compromised or at a high risk for severe disease, avoid non-essential indoor activities in public.

In counties at a medium community level, the CDC says elderly persons and those who are immuno-compromised or at a high risk for severe disease, wear mask in indoor public places. They should also get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or get their bivalent booster if eligible.
