Chain reaction crash on Highway 32 injures two persons

JEFFERSON CITY —
Two persons were hurt in a traffic crash on Highway 32 in Ste. Genevieve County Wednesday morning.
 
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 22-year-old Grant D. Roberts of Farmington suffered moderate injuries and 22-year-old Nicole R. Schwent of Desloge had minor injuries. Roberts was taken to Parkland Health Center in Farmington by a St. Francois County ambulance. Schwent was transported by a private vehicle.
 
The patrol says the accident happened when an eastbound school bus stopped and four eastbound vehicles travelling behind the bus were involved in a chain reaction crash.
 
A 2018 Kia Optima driven by Roberts struck the rear of a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 25-year-old Jessica Finley of Ste. Genevieve, which then struck the rear of a 2009 Pontiac G5 driven by Schwent, which in turn struck a 2008 Ford F250, driven by 53-year-old David L. Haarmann of Park Hills.
 
The school bus was not involved in the crash which happened about 6:30 a.m. west of Brown Road.
 
The Kia had extensive damage, the Pontiac was a total loss, the Cruze was a total loss and the F250 had minor damage. The F250 was driven from the scene, the rest of the vehicles were removed by Buckleys and Boyds Towing Companies.
 
All of the drivers were buckled up.
