A passenger car and a pick up towing a boat on a trailer were involved in a traffic crash on Route 3 in Randolph County Sunday

CHESTER — Three persons apparently escaped injury in a traffic crash on Illinois Route 3 Sunday afternoon in Randolph County.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reports a northbound 2003 Ford F150 driven by 52-year-old Michael Fogerson of Chester was towing a boat and was traveling behind a 2010 Ford Focus driven by 62-year-old Bonnie Miller of Chester.

According to the report, the Focus slowed to make a right turn onto Union Hall Road.

Fogerson swerved to avoid the Focus, however the towed boat sideswiped the car.

After the impact the F150 and trailer made a sharp right and traveled up a short embankment and between two trees where the trailer struck a tree. The F150 came to a rest in the parking area in front of Wally’s Restaurant. The boat came loose from the trailer and came to rest in the grassy area in front of the restaurant just west of the F150 and trailer.

The Focus came to rest on the embankment just north of Union Hall Road on the east side of Route 3.

A passenger in the F150 was identified as 51-year-old Karsten Tripp of St. Mary.

The report indicates none of the persons was taken to a hospital for treatment and no citations were issued.
