A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 for 91-year-old Dolores Ann Waltemate, of Chester, Illinois, who passed away Thursday, September 16, 2022 at 10:26 pm, at her residence.
She was born to the late Robert and Rose (nee Luesse) Niklich on September 26, 1930 in Belleville, Illinois.
Dolores married her high school sweetheart, Rudolph “Rudy” E. Waltemate on November 19, 1949 at Peace Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois; he preceded her in death on March 14, 2009.
She worked for General Telephone Company, Randolph County Courthouse and the Chester Food Park.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois. She was also a member of the Women of the ELCA and volunteered at the Chester Senior Center.
She had been a Brownie Scout leader and enjoyed painting ceramics.
Dolores was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan and St. Louis Blues fan and enjoyed listening to the UCONN Girls Basketball team on the radio.
Most of all she loved spending time with family and was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by three children: Sandy Brooks of Chester, Ill., Gary (Robin) Waltemate of Ellis Grove, Ill. and David (Nadya) Waltemate of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandsons: Eric (Amber) Waltemate of Mascoutah, Ill., Ryan “Wally” (Clara) Waltemate of Ellis Grove, Ill., Corey Kuhlman of Chester, Ill., Daniel (Tiffany) Waltemate of Tampa, Fla.; Christopher Waltemate of Los Angeles, Calif.,
Joseph Brooks (Fiancee Rachel Gornet) of St. Louis, Mo. and Michael Lapshin (Fiancee Marissa Paglia) of Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter: Kathryn Waltemate of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 great grandchildren: Dominic, Mia, Alys, Justin, Ava, Danielle, Luke, Desmond, and Brayden Waltemate, Zachary and Lily Kuhlman and Cierra Creason and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Blaze Niklich and George (Ethel) Nicklich; two sisters: Mary (Tom) Tompkins and Irene Waltemate, one brother-in-law Donald (Evadine) Waltemate; one daughter-in-law: Charlotte Waltemate and a dear friend – Mary (John) File.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Ill.
A memorial service for 91-year-old Dolores Ann Waltemate, of Chester will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois. Pastor Deb Rathert will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church, Chester, Illinois or to the Chester Senior Center.
