Art walk set for September 23 in Ste. Genevieve

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve’s 4th Friday Art Walk on September 23 will include lots to see and do, including a first-hand look at artists at work on Merchant Street.

 

As part of the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild’s 18th Annual Plein Air Competition artists will participate in a timed twilight painting event outside Brix Winery on Merchant Street from 5pm to 8pm. In addition some of this year’s plein air paintings will be on display at the Guild headquarters on the Courthouse Square. (The plein air awards ceremony will take place at the Guild’s Saturday reception, from 6pm to 9pm.) 

 

In addition to hosting the plein air artists Brix will also have its distinguished and unique QR ART collection on view inside the winery and the winner of the winery’s “create our next label” contest will be on display. Brix will be serving its mead, hard cider, and wine along with ginger beer mead-tails in alcohol or non-alcohol options.

 

ASL Pewter on Third Street is offering an in-store-only “20% off any purchase” sale storewide.

 

The nearby Silver Sycamore Gallery of Fine Art will feature work by local and nationally-recognized artists including Leon Basler’s latest work…started live during the August Art Walk and now complete.

 

Music Art Love will be hosting live music by Mike Alesandrini, cigarbox guitars by featured artist J.D. Richardson, and 50% off its summer wear collection.

 

The Ste. Genevieve Antique Mall’s featured artist will be Emily Gray, a recent addition to the Ste. Genevieve art community who creates unique, one-of-a-kind stained glass art. 

 

Other artspaces that will be open include E•KleK•Tix Gallery & Studio with new art and Oldies music, and Oliver’s will show art by Teri Cavins. Rooted Coffee and Common Grounds Coffee House, QRSTea, Masquerade, Only Child Originals and Rust will welcome art walk visitors. Other downtown merchants also may be open. 

 

The Art Walk is open to everyone and most activities are free.
