ST. LOUIS – High school performers will bring live music to The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis on Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15 as marching bands from throughout Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Texas compete in the 2022 Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Championship, presented by Yamaha. Bands of America Championships are the premier marching band events in the nation and are entertaining, family-friendly events featuring live music, choreography, and competition.
Hosted by the Blue Springs High School Band and Boosters, the Bands of America (BOA) St. Louis Super Regional Championship will feature 69 high school marching bands in preliminary competition, including the defending St. Louis Super Regional Champion and Grand National Champion Broken Arrow High School from Broken Arrow, Okla. A panel of nationally recognized music educators and marching band experts will evaluate the bands. The top 14 scoring bands will advance to the evening finals competition.
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South (M4 Band) will perform in special exhibition. Palen Music is the Official Music Store of the Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Championship.
The Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Championship, presented by Yamaha, is one of 26 Bands of America marching band championships across the country this fall, providing positively life-changing experiences for students, teachers, and fans.
In addition to presenting educational events for music students and teachers, Music for All provides support and resources advocating for music and arts education in schools. As a part of the district-wide Professional Development day for St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS), Music for All will host SLPS K-12 music educators as guests at its Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Championship on Friday, October 14. Participants will have access to watch all Friday performances at the Super Regional. They will receive a backstage tour of the event and participate in professional development sessions with Music for All clinicians and adjudicators.

Music and arts involvement teaches young people many skills necessary to succeed in life, including problem-solving, decision-making, self-confidence, self-discipline, personal responsibility, teamwork, and more. Research shows attendance and graduation rates are higher for students who participate in their school music programs. The College Entrance Examination Board found that students involved in public school music programs scored, on average, 107 points higher on the SAT than students with no participation.
Bands of America has held one of its championships in St. Louis at The Dome every fall since 1997. The 2022 Bands of America season concludes with the Bands of America Grand National Championships, presented by Yamaha, Nov. 10 – 12 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Music for All will present the Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Championship at The Dome at America’s Center, 701 Convention Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63101 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15.
