ST. LOUIS – Spire Gas Company and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will unveil a restored 2.5-mile trail at Camp Fiddlecreek in Labadie, Mo, made possible through support from Spire as part of the Her Future is Our Future Comprehensive Campaign.
In a dedication ceremony, leaders from both organizations will be joined by Girl Scout troop members to unveil the 2.5-mile trail, which balances conservation and recreation for all trail users. The restored trail is more accessible and easier to navigate for explorers of varying experience and ability.
“We are grateful to Spire for their generous support of our trail restoration project and the Her Future is Our Future Comprehensive Campaign,” said Bonnie Barczykowski, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. “Hiking and trail exploration are key elements of the Girl Scout outdoor experience. This trail restoration will impact girls across our region for generations to come — connecting them with nature and themselves — while out on the beautiful trails.”
As part of Spire’s ongoing commitment, they will offer their employees the opportunity to volunteer with the trail maintenance program, helping to ensure the sustainability of these trails for girls long into the future.
“The Girl Scouts build girls of courage, confidence and character and we are so proud to be part of this project,” said Jessica Willingham, Spire senior vice president, chief communications and marketing officer. Willingham also sits on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. “Supporting the trail helps make sure they have good adventures, the opportunity to connect with the planet and be a good environmental steward.”
Since 1956, Camp Fiddlecreek, located in eastern Franklin County, Missouri, has provided educational and recreational opportunities for Girl Scouts of all ages.
