A funeral will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 for 69-year-old Robert J. “Bob” Young of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at Mercy South Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1952 in Perryville, Mo. to Edward C. and Marguerite N. (Miget) Young.
He and Lois M. Griffard were married on June 12, 1976 at St. Vincent de Paul. She survives in Perryville.
Survivors also include a daughter: Allison (Kurt Christman) Young of Denver, Colo.; a son: Gabriel (Kriste) Young of Kirkwood, Mo.; three brothers: Edward C. Young, III of Perryville, Mo., Thomas (Suzie) Young of Mehlville, Mo. and John (Pam) Young of Perryville, Mo.; three grandchildren: Harper, Easton and Bodhi Young; a sister-in-law: Jane Lubker of De Soto, Mo.; and a brother-in-law, David (Paula) Griffard of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Bob was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and choir.
He was a 1971 graduate of St. Vincent.
He was an Eagle Boy Scout and Boy Scout loeader. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Past Commander of American Legion Post 133, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and Past Grand Knight.
Former owner operator of Young & Sons Funeral Home. Past Perryville Country Club house manager and salesman at SEMCO. Through all his medical issues, his sense of humor never wavered. Bob didn’t know a stranger.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Thursday, September 15, 2022 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Fr. Mark Pranaitis officiating.
Private burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
