CHS wins at Marissa 8-30-22

The Jackets traveled to Marissa Tuesday August 30 and competed against the Lady Meteors and the Lady Dupo Tigers.  The Tigers did not have enough players for a team score, so Marissa and Chester battled it out. Chester defeated Marissa, 196-240.

The match was at the White Oaks Golf Course which is a par 37 course.  The Lady Jackets enjoyed a 44 stroke lead over the Lady Meteors for the win.

Chester Girls finish 6th at Okawville Invite 9-9-22

The ladies from Chester traveled to Okawville Friday September 9th for the Okawville High School Invitational Match.  The event featured 11 schools including Chester (1A), Okawville (1A), Columbia (1A), Breese Central (1A), Red Bud 1A), Trico, (1A), Carlyle (1A), Mascoutah (2A), Marissa (1A), Nashville (1A),  and Breese Mater Dei (2A).

The event gave Chester the opportunity to compete against several schools that they ordinarily do not get to play.  The field of 11 teams showcased two Class 2A schools and nine Class 1A schools.  Being an invitational, the girls played an 18-hole match compared to their usual 9-hole matches they are used to.

The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets finished right in the middle of the pack at 6th with five teams finishing above them and five finishing below them.  Two of the five schools that placed higher than Chester were Class 2A Mascoutah and Class 2A Breese Mater Dei.

Rounding out the five Chester golfers as Riley Lochhead who shot 127 for the 18 holes or 63.5 per round which is a good improvement for her!

Head Coach Meg Schnoeker said, “I am very proud of the girls for their performances in their first 18-hole tournament of the season.  For some of them it was their first 18-hole match ever!”

“Freshman Macy Bert and Addy Gottschammer both set personal-best scores for their 9-hole rounds of 45 and 58 respectively. Camryn Luthy’s solid round of 82 was well deserving of her 4th Place finish overall out of the field of golfers.”

“The girls are continuing to improve as the season progresses, and as a coach, it is very rewarding to see them impress themselves.  I am looking forward to what the remainder of the season holds for this great group of golfers.”

Team scores and rankings are as follow: Columbia (1st, 336); Nashville (2nd, 364); Breese Central (3rd, 374); Mascoutah (4th, 376); Breese Mater Dei (5th, 379); Chester (6th, 389); Okawville (7th, Tie, 400); Red Bud (7th, Tie, 400); Trico (9th, 406); Carlyle (10th, 418); and Marissa (11th, 480).
