SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Freedom Caucus is issuing the following statement on President Joe Biden’s hateful and divisive prime time speech.
“Our nation is used to looking to the President of the United States for hope and clarity in troubling times. Ronald Reagan in his radio addresses spoke to the country and offered hope and clarity to the nation during the Cold War. George W. Bush spoke through a bull horn to rally our nation in the wake of 9/11. There are certainly many other examples throughout history where Presidents have stepped up to inspire hope and courage during difficult times.
What we don’t expect from the President is deeply divisive and dark rhetoric, but this is exactly what the country witnessed as President Joe Biden gave his prime-time address. Shrouded in a red background reminiscent of the stage lighting the Rolling Stones use when performing ‘Sympathy for the Devil,’ President Biden clenched his fists with rage and cast every person who did not vote for him as extremists and fascists.
Joe Biden ran on unity but instead of bringing the country together, Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats have exposed their true opinions of those who simply disagree with them politically. Through their rhetoric and their actions, they are seeking to further fracture an already divided nation. Joe Biden’s words are destructive and harmful to our nation and not fitting of someone who holds the highest office in the land.
Where are the media questions for JB Pritzker and other prominent Illinois Democrats about Biden’s dark and divisive speech? Do Democrats in Illinois believe what Joe Biden is saying about half of the country? Does JB Pritzker hate rural America as much as Joe Biden does? Where do Illinois Democrats stand on Joe Biden’s hateful rhetoric? It is time for JB Pritzker and his allies to answer the tough questions for a change.
The hateful rhetoric has to stop, and it is time for Democrats to stand up to the hateful radicalism their party seems to have embraced.”
