CHESTER – The Chester High School Lady Jacket Golf Team is young with only one senior, one junior and five rookie freshmen. The team has just finished its second week of competition and already the girls are showing improvement.

Week 1

Week 1 featured two matches, both at home at the Chester Country Club.  Tuesday August 16 the Jackets hosted Gibault and Steeleville in the first match of the season and Thursday August 18 CHS hosted Zeigler-Royalton.

Against Gibault and Steeleville the Lady Jackets finished second, falling to the Lady Hawks by just seven strokes, 198-205.  Steeleville only had two golfers and did not qualify for a team score.

Chester’s Camryn Luthy was the Medalist for the match with her score of 41. Other Lady Jackets’ scores included Aubrie Medford (44), Macy Bert (53), Rylie Myers (67), Addy Gottschammer (70), and Riley Lochhead (75).

On Thursday against Zeigler-Royalton, the Lady Jackets showed improvement, falling to the Lady Tornadoes, but this time by only four strokes, 104-198.  For the second match in-a- row, Chester hailed the Medalist honors as Aubrie Medford shot a 41 to win the title.

Teammate Camryn Luthy was just one stroke behind Medford with a 42.  Macy Bert knocked off five strokes from her first match score shooting a 48.  Freshman Riley Lochhead also improved her game by eight strokes recording a score of 67. Other freshmen included Addy Gottschammer (71) and Rylie Myers (73).

Week 2

In Week 2 the Lady Jackets competed in three matches.  Monday August 22 CHS traveled to Pyramid Oaks to compete against Trico and Steeleville.  Steeleville once again had only two golfers and did not qualify for a team score.

The Lady Jackets once again knocked on the door of victory, but fell just six strokes short of the win, falling to the Lady Pioneers, 215-221.  For the third match in the three-match early season, Chester had at least a share of the Medalist honors as Chester’s Camryn Luthy and Trico’s Griffiths tied for top honors with identical scores of 48.

Other Lady Jacket scores included Aubrie Medford (52), Macy Bert (52), Rylie Myers (69), Riley Lochhead (76) and Addy Gottschammer (77).

Tuesday and Thursday August 23 and 25 Chester hosted home matches at the Chester Country Club.

Tuesday the Jackets hosted Marissa and Trico in a triangular match.  All three schools had team scores.  The Lady Jackets continued to improve recording a score of 196.  This effort beat Marissa (251), but was just one stroke short of tying Trico (195).  The ladies from Chester were still looking for their first win of the season.

Trico’s Knott was low medalist with her score of 41.  Her teammates followed with scores of 45 (Griffiths), 48 (Kennedy), and 61 (Blazier).

Chester was led by Camryn Luthy who was once again just one stroke short of earning medalist honors with her score of 42.  Other Lady Jacket performances included Aubrie Medford (44), Macy Bert (46), Addy Gottschammer (64), and Rylie Myers (67).

Marissa was led by Stephens who had a score of 49.  She was followed by Demsar (65), Root (67), Kratz (70), Wiley (72), and Pilbean (76).

The Lady Jackets rounded out Week 2 by hosting another match at the Chester Country Club.  This time CHS, Sparta and Steeleville met for a triangular event.

Coach Meg Schnoeker said, “It was an awesome night at the Chester Country Club for the Lady Jackets, who shot their lowest team score of the season, beating Sparta 185-247. Senior Aubrie Medford and junior Camryn Luthy had the low scores for the team and were Co-Medalists, both shooting 40.”

Other Chester scores included Macy Bert (47), Rylie Myers (58), Riley Lochhead (63, Personal Best), Addy Gottschammer (70), and Jessie Stumpe (71).

Sparta was led by Montroy who shot 534, followed by Stine (58), Dethrow (64), Braun (71), and Zweigart (75).

Steeleville did not have a team score which necessitates four players.  Rodawald shot 59 and Barker shot 61.
