HILLSBORO – An Astronomy Telescope Show, “Dobson-Fest” will be held at the Jefferson College Observatory on the campus of Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri on Saturday September 17, 2022 from 4-10 p.m. This will be an outdoor event with demonstrations and tips from local amateur astronomers on how get the maximum enjoyment out of your telescope. The event is cosponsored by Jefferson College and the St Louis region astronomy clubs and is open to the public free of charge.
Do you know that the “Dobsonian” reflecting telescope is one of the most popular telescopes on the market today? Dobsonian telescopes are very durable and they don’t wear out or break easily. You may have a Dobsonian stored away in a closet or garage. Bring it to Dobson-Fest 2022 and let us help you!
Activities and Demonstrations (4-8 p.m.) will include:
- General info on telescopes and local astronomy clubs
- How to select a good first telescope for the family
- What are Library Telescopes and Binoculars?
- Demonstrations on set up and using your telescope
- Tips on how to clean and align your telescope
- Display of best telescope accessories
- Telescope Making and Mirror grinding
Night time demonstrations (8-10pm) on how to set up and use your telescope.
