STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – On August 31, Ste. Genevieve County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will host an important workshop on Points of Distribution (POD), a strategy and centralized location for distributing life-saving, emergency supplies to disaster survivors in an affected community. This free workshop runs from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Ste. Genevieve Fire House.
When disaster strikes, the community often generously pulls together to help those affected. As an agency involved in disaster relief, EMA recognizes the importance of directing those intentions in the most efficient way. The EMA encourages people who want to help those affected by the disaster to work through established relief agencies that already have the infrastructure and the ability to pull people, processes and resources into one place to do the most good.
This workshop was designed by The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Army Corps for community service agencies, civic organizations, non-profits, religious organizations, businesses, and individuals interested in responding to emergencies, disasters, and crises. The August 31 workshop will cover staffing (vital for sustained operations), POD Set Up, equipment requirements, POD operations, resource accountability, safety, and demobilization.
