Opal Emma Mahnken, 93, of Farrar, Missouri died Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born October 4, 1928 in Farrar, MO to Theodor and Hilda Verseman Steffens.
She and Leonard Mahnken were married September 28, 1948 at Salem Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1988.
Opal was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, an avid quilter, gardener, and Cardinal fan, and a member of Salem Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Altar Guild, and Church Choir.
Survivors include one brother, Cletus Steffens of Farrar, MO; four daughters, Janice Mahnken of Altenburg, MO, Maxine (David) Theiss of Farrar, Jolene (Steve) Pohlman of Apple Creek, MO, Dana (Roy Jr.) Pohlman of Apple Creek, MO; three sons, Dewain Mahnken of Percy, IL, Steve (Sara) Mahnken of Longtown, MO, James Mahnken of Farrar, MO; daughter-in-law, Donna Mahnken; grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Benjamin, and Derek Theiss, Chad, Dylan, Eric, and Emma Mahnken, Alicea Legrand, Kaitlyn Wills, Kirsti Schremp, Whitney Hemman, Jacob Pohlman, Amanda Klaus, and Brad Mahnken and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elaine Hadler Davis; two brothers, Robert Steffens and LeeRoy Steffens; three sons, Doyle “Ollie” Mahnken, Neal Mahnken, and Jerry K. Mahnken; granddaughter, Jessica Theiss.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar. Funeral Service will be at 4:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Farrar.
Memorial contributions may be given to Salem Lutheran Church, Saxony Lutheran High School, or Crown Hospice.
