Bonne Terre woman charged with DWI following Route T crash

JEFFERSON CITY — A 37-year-old Bonne Terre woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated (serious physical injury) in connection with a traffic crash late Thursday night on Route T in Perry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Abigail E. Johnson was the driver of a westbound 2005 Dodge Durango which failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The Durango ran off the left side of the road and overturned.

Johnson had serious injuries and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau by a Perry County ambulance.

Two passengers in the Durango were also hurt: 32-year-old Angelia N. Steele of Farmington had serious injuries and 32-year-old Lateara D. Martin of Bonne Terre had moderate injuries. Both were also taken to St. Francis Medical Center by a Perry County ambulance.

The patrol also says Johnson had no insurance.

Johnson was buckled up, but her two passengers were not.

The Durango was a total loss.
