Harold “Wally” Wallis Jr., 73, of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, died Friday, July 22, 2022, at his home in Sainte Genevieve. He was born August 22, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri. Harold married Verna (Dietzfelbinger) Wallis June 30, 1995.
Harold is survived by his wife, Verna J. Wallis of Sainte Genevieve; two sons, James H. (Julie) Wallis of Troy, Missouir, and Jason W. Wallis of O’Fallon, Missouri; daughter, Robyn C. Dettmer of Hillsboro, Missouri; two loving step-sons, John W (Ellen) Mueller of Imperial, Missouri, and Scott M. (Julie) Mueller of Bloomsdale, Missouri; sister, Donna (James) Newland of Independence, Missouri; grandchildren, Jacob (Melissa) Mueller, Wyatt Mueller, Jordan Mueller, David Wallis, Ben Wallis, Will Wallis, Grace Wallis, Jack Wallis, Emma Wallis, Max Wallis, Danielle Walker, and London Walker; great-grandchildren, McKinlee Zarr, and Titan Kelley; family friends, Jennifer Hopper, and Dan Walker; loved and respected by in-laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. Wallis Sr. and Mary L. (Bohn) Wallis; special uncle, Otto Wallis; and grandchild, Samuel Wallis.
Wally began his career in sales and moved to law enforcement which was his passion. He worked in St. Charles County, St. Francois County, and retired from Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department. Wally took pride in working on the farm, fishing and playing Texas Hold ‘Em with friends. Harold “Wally” Wallis and his sarcastic wit will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve. Visitation resumes 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Jane Brda offiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve. Memorials can be made to Salvation Army St. Louis or Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Sainte Genevieve.
