HILLSBORO – Jefferson College Welding Professor Joe Candela recently received the District Education Award from the American Welding Society (AWS).
Jeff Palazzolo (left), First Vice Chair of the American Welding Society St. Louis Chapter, presented the award to Candela (center) during a recent ceremony at Jefferson College. Also congratulating Candela is Jefferson College Associate Dean of the School of Math, Physics, and Technology Maryanne Angliongto.
Candela was honored for his quality instructional performance devoted to the promotion and expansion of welding skills and knowledge. The award is presented to an outstanding teacher from each AWS National District. Jefferson College is located in District 14, which includes portions of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky.
The distinction is a way of recognizing educators whose teaching activities are considered to have advanced the knowledge of welding of the undergraduate or postgraduate students in their respective institutions.
