Winifred ‘Winnie’ M. Frentzel

Winifred “Winnie” M. Frentzel, 92, of Perryville, Missouri peacefully passed on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born November 21, 1929 in Longtown, MO to John “Milton” and Violet (Graves) Abernathy.

Winnie and Leo “Byrd” Frentzel were married on September 9, 1950.

She received her B.S. in Education, Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Southeast Missouri State University. Winnie taught one year at Cape County School, 12 years at Perry County Rural Schools, and then 27 years at Perry County District #32 for a total of 40 years. She coached volleyball, basketball and started the softball program which she coached for 12 years. She was a member and past worthy Matron of St. Marys Chapter #338, Order of the Easter Star, Missouri Teachers Association, past president of Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa for 50 years. She also was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion Post #133, Amvets, and VFW Post #4282. She was member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Alan (Rhonda ) Frentzel of Perryville, MO, Kirk (Cindy Buchheit) Frentzel of Perryville, MO; daughter, Christy (Paul) Leuckel of Perryville, MO; daughter, Tamra (Steve) Moldenhauer of Perryville, MO; brother, John Abernathy of Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo “Byrd” Frentzel; Granddaughter, Jenny Buchheit; brother, Donald Abernathy; sister, Doris Slattery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Terry Edwards officiating.

Burial will be at York Chapel Cemetery in Longtown..
