Stolen car recovered, one suspect arrested, another at large

PERRYVILLE – Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf announced Monday, the recovery of a stolen car.

The 1993 Lincoln Town Car was found June 17th parked in the middle of PCR 944, running with the keys left in it, and no one around the vehicle.  The vehicle appeared to be stuck in loose gravel.

The license plate came back to a person from Cape Girardeau, and was not listed as stolen.

After speaking with an officer from Cape P.D. it was discovered the vehicle had, in fact, been stolen earlier but they had not gotten it entered into the system yet.  The vehicle was recovered and towed from the scene.

Subsequent investigation led to warrants for two adults, and one juvenile from Chester, Illinois who will be dealt with through the Juvenile system.

Charged are:

23-year-old Susan J. Watters of Richwoods, MO, who is charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree. She is currently being held at the Perry County Jail.

32-year-old Christopher S. Meyer, who is homeless, is charged with Tampering w/a Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree, and is NOT currently in custody. There is an active warrant for him, and if anyone knows where he is they should contact law enforcement immediately.
