COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Missouri, and locally

JEFFERSON CITY — The number of new COVID-19 cases continues to climb in the state of Missouri.

The CDC reports the number of confirmed and probable cases in Missouri for the past seven days was 9,945 up 214 or 2.2 percent more than the previous week’s total

There were 24 new COVID-19 cases in Ste. Genevieve County and 19 new cases in Perry County in Missouri this week.

St. Francois County had 84 new COVID-19 cases in the past seven days. Cape Girardeau had 90 new cases. Bollinger County had fewer than 10. Jefferson County had 431.

Ste. Genevieve and St. Francois are reported to be at the medium community level. Perry and Bollinger County are at the low community level. Jefferson County is at the high level.

At the Medium Community Level, persons who are elderly or immunocompromised (at risk of severe outcomes) are advised to wear a mask in indoor public places. In addition, they should make sure to get up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines or get their second booster, if eligible.
