WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.) congratulated Samantha Loida of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., for her appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy this fall. Out of all the qualified candidates throughout the district, Loida was one of only four students to be nominated by Smith and then receive an appointment.

Smith praised Loida’s talent and leadership skills, and encouraged her to continue setting high goals for herself.
“A great privilege of my job is nominating excellent students from the 8th district to attend one of our U.S. Service Academies,” said Smith. “Samantha Loida is an impressive young woman who is eager to become the next member of her family to serve in the U.S. Air Force. She earned a nomination to three service academies thanks to her leadership skills, academic success, and passion for serving her community. I wish Samantha the best and know she will make Missouri proud as she takes this exciting – yet challenging – step in her pursuit of a military career.”
Smith is currently accepting applications for 2023 nominations to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
