Chester Public Library events for June announced

CHESTER – The Chester Public Library is excited to announce upcoming events for children and adults.

Please bring the kiddos to the library Thursday, June 2 at 1 p.m. at the spacious St. Mary’s Gym (Church Street across from the Knights of Columbus Hall) for “Mad Science! -Walking on the Moon”.

Walk beyond the beaten path as we travel 238,900 miles above the earth.

What is it like to walk and move in space?

Did they eat ice cream aboard Apollo 11?

Experience the power of rockets and more!

With the help of some volunteers, kids will learn what it’s like to explore space and the Apollo technology used on earth today.

The Chester Public Library welcomes Chris Camp, “The Whip Guy”, on Wednesday, June 8 at 1 p.m.

This event will be held at St. John Parish Hall (corner of High and W. German Streets) where there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the program complete with science, history, and the folklore of whip cracking along with cool stunts and musical whips of wonder.

All ages welcome!

Registration is not required for “Walking on the Moon” or “The Whip Guy”, so feel free to join us at the last minute.  Please note that neither event is held at the library.

A special thank you goes to Judge Bill and Evelyn Schuwerk for sponsoring these events.

On Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m. Laurie Umbdenstock will present “Prairie du Rocher”. This is your opportunity to learn fascinating facts about the buildings and history of the beautiful, historic town of Prairie du Rocher.  This event will be held at the Chester Public Library.  Advanced registration is requested.

The Friends of The Chester Public Library are honored to have Karen Stallman host a twilight tour of her beautiful flower gardens on Monday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m.  Ticket holders will be guided through the gardens that surround the Stallman’s home outside of Ellis Grove.  A limited number of tickets are available for $20 each.  Proceeds from The Twilight Garden Tour will benefit The Friends of The Library organization and are available at the Library.
