PERRYVILLE – Perryville will observe Memorial Day Monday with a wreath laying ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial in Perryville.
The ceremony will begin with the singing of the National Anthem by Pro Football Hall of Famer Jackie Smith.
Following a wreath laying, retired United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Stan Shurmantine will speak.
Flag etiquette rules for Memorial Day: Fly the Stars and Stripes at half-staff until noon and then raise it to full-staff. When raising the flag at dawn, raise it to full-staff and then lower slowly to half-staff.
Memorial Day is set aside to honor American military members who died in service to the country.
