Chester girls finish 3rd at 2022 IHSA Sectional Meet

   CHESTER – The Chester High School Lady Jacket Track and Field Team finished 3rd out of 15 teams at the 2022 IHSA Class 1A Sectional Meet.  The event was hosted at DuQuoin. 

DuQuoin was the winner of the Sectional with 193 points, followed by Pinckneyville (2nd, 51); CHESTER (3rd, 43); Sesser-Valier (4th, 42); Johnston City (5th Tie, 36); McLeansboro Hamilton County (5th Tie, 36); Pope County (7th Tie, 28); Vienna (7th Tie, 28); Christopher (9th, 26); Carmi-White County (10th, 25); Goreville (11th, 24); West Frankfort (12th, 9); Steeleville (13th, 7); Cairo (14th Tie, 2); and Eldorado (14th Tie, 2).

Chester had one athlete qualify to advance to the State Meet.  Emma Eggemeyer, a junior, finished 2nd in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.86 meters.

The Lady Jackets also had athletes finish in 3rd (2); 4th (4); 5th, (3); and 6th (1) to earn a total of 43 points. Other non-point Chester finishes included 7th (4); 8th (1); 9th (3); 10th (1); 11th (2); 12th (1); and 16th (1).

4 X 800: Chester (4th, 13:51.65)

Discus: Briley Miles (8th, 26.66 Meters) and Alyssa Seymour (11th, 21.97 Meters)

100-Meter Dash: Jasemine Merideth (5th, 18.31) and Paige Vasquez (7th, 19.08)

High Jump: Jasemine Merideth (5th, 1.42 Meters) and Mabry Wingerter (6th, 1.32 Meters) (in photo)

100-Meter Dash: Kailyn Absher (9th, 14.26) and Mabry Wingerter (15th, 14.61)

800-Meter Run: Madison Kribs (9th, 3:04.49) and Rylie Conley (12th, 3:39.99)

Long Jump: Kailyn Absher (4th, 4.74 Meters) and Mabry Wingerter (10th, 3.99 Meters)

4 X 200-Meter Relay: Chester (4th, 1:57.64) Hannah Blechle, Camrynn Howie, Paige Vasquez, and Gianna Eggemeyer.

400-Meter Dash: Maleia Absher (11th, 1:17.72) and Amanda Kennon (14th, 1:21.64)

Pole Vault: Hannah Blechle (4th, 2.14 Meters)

300-Meter Hurdles: Jasemine Merideth (5th, 53.12)

1600-Meter (1-Mile) Run: Maria Nickle (9th, 7:39.69)

Shot Put: Emma Eggemeyer (2nd, 10.85 Meters) and Kailyn Absher (7th, 9.44 Meters)

200-Meter Dash: Camrynn Howie (7th, 29.92) and Josalynn Anaya (16th, 32.82)

4 X 400-Meter Relay: Chester (3rd, 4:29.49) Gianna Eggemeyer, Hannah Blechle, Mabry Wingerter, and Jasemine Merideth.

Triple Jump: Paige Vasquez (3rd, 9.96 Meters) and Bethany Baughman (7th, 7.80 Meters)

Head Coach Jenny Cartwright said, “This was a tough Sectional.  Du Quoin was unstoppable with 193 points.  The next closest team was Pinckneyville ho scored 51 points.  Our girls competed well and finished 3rd and sent one athlete, Emma Eggemeyer, to State in the shot put.  I am proud of all of our athletes!”
