SGHS FFA students host 1st & 2nd grade Mini Fair

STE. GENEVIEVE — Last week, Ste. Genevieve High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) students held their annual Mini Fair at the Ste. Genevieve Fairgrounds.

The group invited first and second grade classes from local area schools to participate and join in the fun!

The FFA students and their co-sponsors Hannah Fritsche-Donze and Kelly Sulkowski set up stations under the big barn where the young students can learn about farming techniques, tools and farm animals, including various types of ducks, chickens, goats, pigs, rabbits, horses, and much more!

The FFA students actually brought in their own equipment and pets for the exposition.

Young students asked questions about activities, such as bee-keeping and taxidermy, and growing vegetables from seeds.

This event gave older students an opportunity to teach what they have learned throughout their involvement with FFA, and it provided the younger students with the neat experience of seeing a variety of animals up close, and learning about a way of life they might not have otherwise!
