STE. GENEVIEVE — The man hunt is over. The 47-year-old suspect in a burglary who allegedly fired two shots toward deputies who were pursuing him Tuesday, is in custody.
The announcement of the capture was posted to the sheriff’s Facebook page Thursday morning. No details of the capture were disclosed.
Deputies of the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office were kept busy Tuesday trying to chase down Bobby Lee Stevens Jr.
Chief Deputy Jason Schott says the officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 8500 block of Highway 32.
Upon arrival, deputies were told the alleged suspect had left the residence and headed south across Highway 32 and down a long driveway.
The sheriffs office deployed their K-9 and started to track the alleged suspect.
The track led into a wooded area and as the deputies were following the K-9, shots rang out in their direction.
Deputies tracking the alleged suspect decided to stop the track and take cover.
Multiple resources were brought in to assist in the manhunt.
The deputies were able to identify the suspect as 47-year-old Bobby Lee Stevens Jr.
He has been charged with two counts of first degree assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of second degree burglary. All five charges are felonies.
His bond has been set at $100,000 cash only.
He also has an additional felony warrant out of a neighboring county as well.
