Mississippi River is expected to fall below flood stage today

ST. LOUIS – The National Weather Service in St. Louis has continued its flood warning for the Mississippi River at Chester.

At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday the stage was 29.8 feet, 2.8 feet above the 27.0 foot flood stage.

 

The river is expected to fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon and continue falling to 26.0 feet Friday morning.

 

…FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE FRIDAY EVENING…

 

* WHAT…Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

 

* WHERE…Mississippi River at Chester.

 

* WHEN…Until late Friday evening.

 

* IMPACTS…At 31.5 feet, In Perry County, Highway E is closed

  between County Road 322 and Levee Road (County Road 354) at Bois

  Brule Creek.
