LFCS receives donation from St. Mark Lutheran Church

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Pastor Mike Berry presented a check in the amount of $517 to Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS) Southeast office in Cape Girardeau. Accepting the check is Christy O’Neal, Regional Development Officer for the Cape LFCS office.

The funds were collected from the church’s Lent offering and will support services in Southeast Missouri, which include mental health counseling for families in crisis, helping young women navigate life choices through unexpected pregnancies, and creating new families through adoption.

“Everything we do revolves around one very important goal – the well-being of Missouri’s children.  Every day we are preserving life by providing pregnant clients with alternatives to abortion.  We are equipping parents with skills to overcome difficult challenges.  We are creating forever families through our adoption program.  We are creating lasting, sustainable change in our communities”, states O’Neal.

In addition to the services geared toward women and children, the organization also provides older adult services out of the Cape Girardeau location.  These services include Behavioral Health Counseling for a variety of concerns, as well as Caregiver Group Counseling and Grief/Loss Support Group.

“It’s so wonderful to have the support of local churches like St. Mark’s and the people who make up their congregations”, O’Neal continued.  “We are simply blessed to receive this generous gift and appreciate everyone who contributed through the offering.”
