Man dies of gunshot wound, following Perry County incident

PERRYVILLE — The Perry County Sheriff’s Office reports a 41-year-old Perryville man has died following a shooting incident at a residence on Sandler Drive in Perry County.

 

According to a sheriff’s office news release “At approximately 12:42 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man who said he had been assaulted at his home on Sandler Drive, in Perry County, and had shot the man assaulting him.”

 

“Law enforcement and EMS responded and found the 41 year old man who had assaulted the resident laying in front of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.”

 

The man has since died from his injuries. 

 

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. 

 

“No more can be released about this incident until we get a clearer picture of exactly what took place” said Perry County Sheriff Gary J. Schaaf.

 

In the meantime, we have been informed that the resident had a minor head wound from a bullet graze behind his left year. He was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
