A private graveside service was held for 85-year-old Lloyd J. Ashbaker of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his residence.
He was born December 12, 1936 in Perry County, Illinois, son of Emil and Mildred (nee Calbert) Ashbaker, who both preceded him in death.
Lloyd married Sandra Braun on March 16, 1962 in Clayton, Illinois; she survives in Red Bud, Ill.
He is also survived by a son: Mark (Sharron) Ashbaker of San Antonio, Tex.; two siblings: Vernon (Diane) Ashbaker San Bernardino, Calif. and DeEtta Peterson of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren: Zennata, Rebekkah, Sammuel and Izabella Ashbaker and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers: Terrance, Raymond, Bill, Jerry and Francis Ashbaker and two sisters: Judith Ashbaker and Rosemary Boyd.
He was a lieutenant at Menard Correctional Center in Chester, Illinois for over 20 years.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 6632 in Red Bud, Illinois.
In Lloyd’s younger years, he enjoyed bowling, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
