Youth participate in County Government Day

PERRYVILLE – Perry County office holders welcomed students from St Vincent and Perryville High School to the Perry County Courthouse for County Government Day.

 

The annual event is organized by the American Legion Post 133 Women’s Auxiliary.

Thirty students – two for each office holder, spent the morning touring the many offices that make up Perry County’s government, before regrouping at the American Legion for a luncheon.

 

This annual event, has a more than 60 year tradition in our community.

Participants included: From PHS: Averie Tucker, Samuel Camarillo, Sonora Bishop, Brandon Martin, Taegan Gerler, Sophia PRice, Megan Buchheit, Megan Matasci,Keturah Pyland, Katie Roberts, Aubrey Wortmann, Kellyn Friedman, Noah Bergman and Caitlin Hoff. Unable to attend was Shelby Conder.

 

From St Vincent: Lacci Gibbar, Lexi Bohnert, Gabriel Anders, Mollie Dobbelare, Alaina Hudson, Kannen Reiss, Natalie Ernst, Allison Bahr, Christian Layton, Ethan Leible, Aiden Kirn, Carson Leible, Drew Valleroy, Anna Schwartz and Jacob Kapp.

Perry County Treasurer Kathy Schumer and Coroner Bill Bohnert were unable to attend today’s event.

 

The Perry County Collector’s office was represented by Collector-Elect deputy collector Dena Preston while the Perry County Public Administrator’s office was represented by public administrator deputy Janelle Moore.
