Roger F. Cowell

A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 for 85-year-old Roger F. Cowell of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 4:45 am, Friday, April 1, 2022 at Red Bud Regional Care, Red Bud, Illinois.

 

He was born November 25, 1936 in Red Bud son of Louis J. and Adeline (nee Purtle) Cowell who both preceded him in death.

 

He married Marlene M. Fausz November 21, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; she preceded him in death on February 9, 2020.

 

He is survived by five son: Kevin (Stacy) Cowell of Red Bud, Ill., Timothy (Cindy) Cowell of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., Bruce (Nancy) Cowell of Red Bud, Ill., Kurt Cowell of Red Bud, Ill. and Charles (Becky) Cowell of Sparta, Ill.; two sisters in law: Beverly Cowell Red Bud and Nancy (Virgil) Neihaus Shelbyville, Tenn,; 14 grandchildren: Ashley Taylor, Kyle (Cassidy) Cowell, Leanne Cowell, Zachary Cowell (Jana), Brittany (Nick) LaGrasso, Caleb (Michelle) Cowell, Brooke (Jordan) Mathews,         Morgan Cowell, Breanna (Dustin) Bingel, Savanah Cowell (Fiance Joshua Johnson), Logan Cowell, Alyssa Cowell, Kayla Cowell and Jacob Cowell; 15 great grandchildren: Olivia, Alaina, Adeline, Grayson, Carson, Tyson, Lane, Ella, Owen, Wyatt, Witten, Charlie, Nora, Harper and Ethan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Victor (Aurelia) Cowell and Arnold Cowell and two sisters: Alberta (Elmer) Brown and Mildred (Bill) Bann.

 

After being a military policeman for the United States Army, Roger along with his wife had a variety store in Red Bud. He was also a life long farmer.

 

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Illinois and V.F.W. Post No. 6632 in Red Bud, Illinois.

 

Roger also loved to travel.

 

Visitation: will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Illinois.

 

A funeral for  85-year-old Roger F. Cowell of Red Bud, Illinois will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Illinois. The Rev. Msgr. Dennis Schaefer will officiate.

 

Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois.

 

Memorials may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Masses.
