Community Members & Friends:

By Josh Gettinger, candidate for Ste. Genevieve R-II

I’m excited to announce my candidacy for the Ste. Genevieve R-II School District’s Board of Education! As a proud father of two children (Luke & Lincoln) in the district, a husband of a Kindergarten teacher at Bloomsdale Elementary (Mrs. Katie Gettinger), an alumnus of the class of 2006, and a lifelong resident of our community, you could say that I’m committed to the success of our local school district. I am the son of Dave and Sue Gettinger, and I have three siblings Travis (Chrissy) Gettinger, Jake (Jennifer) Gettinger, and Kamrie Gettinger.

A successful candidate is one who is passionate about public education and works hard to ensure that our children have access to the necessary tools to build a meaningful life. Starting with understanding the shortcomings we currently face and building out policies to improve upon will be crucial to success. This candidate should be one who is willing to listen to and support the community from all walks of life and hopes for success for all. I will strive to listen to all opinions of the community and act when necessary.

As a father to a 2nd grade child, I see the challenges my son faces. I remind my son daily that we aren’t all created equal and being kind and generous to others is rule number one. I’ve struggled with perfectionism and remind my children that it is okay to fail. What matters most is that we learn from our mistakes for a new and better tomorrow. My top priority is to understand, as a district and community, that students grow and learn at different paces, and want to ensure each classroom is equipped with resources for success.

As a husband to a Kindergarten teacher in our school district, I know the sacrifices my wife makes – the long hours in the classroom, late nights grading papers, and weekends creating lesson plans are just the beginning. However, I also know her 20 students bring her so much joy and fulfillment, she wouldn’t trade it for the world. Building support for the rigorous standards that face our educators cannot be ignored.

For these reasons, I am asking for your support in the upcoming general municipal election. I want to work for YOU to ensure OUR school district remains one of the BEST in Missouri!

Thanks,

Joshua (Josh) Gettinger
