Perry County hosts BBQ competition to raise money for veterans

PERRYVILLE –  Richardet Floor Covering is hosting its annual Gettin’ Sauced BBQ Competition Saturday, April 23rd to raise money for Veterans.

“We love being able to bring our surrounding communities together to raise money for and honor our Veterans. It’s the least we could do.” says Steph Richardet, committee member. The Gettin’ Sauced BBQ Competition is Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Richardet Floor Covering, 1469 PCR 806 in Perryville, Missouri.

There is a $10 entry fee per person that includes a catered BBQ meal along with access to the Competition Garden to taste test some of the best butts, chicken and ribs.

Each team is not only competing for the Brass Pig to mark first place but also [and arguably more important] trying to win People’s Choice, a coveted spot for the team who raises the most money throughout the competition by having the best samples.

The gate opens at 11 a.m. with a catered BBQ meal and live music by the band, Generation.

A presentation of the colors by the Missouri National Veterans Memorial Color Guard and singing of the National Anthem will be held at 12 noon.

The hustle and bustle of teams turning in their entries and more live music will follow by Perryville Native, Ian Ferguson.

A live auction will take place at 3 p.m.

Winners will be announced at 4 p.m. to conclude the annual Gettin’ Sauced BBQ Competition.
