CGS Lady Jr. Jackets are Regional Champions

   CHESTER – The Chester Grade School Lady Jr. Jackets Volleyball Team swept the competition at the

2022 Regional Tournament to become the 2022 Regional Champions.

In first round action Chester faced Dupo winning in three sets. In the first set the Jr.

Jackets won, 25-14. Dupo came back in the second set and won, 25-23 to force a third tie-

breaking set. In the third set, Chester won a close, hard-fought, 16-14 game to advance to the

title game.

 

On Thursday March 17 the Jr. Jackets faced Millstadt in the title game to determine the

2022 Regional Champion.

 

Chester won the match in two sets to become the Champions. In the first set, the Jr. Jackets won by six six points, 25-19. The second set was a three-point Chester win, 25-22. With the win, the Lady Jr. Jackets earned the title of 2022 Regional Champions.

 

With the wins, the Jr. Jackets improved to an overall record of 14 wins and 10 losses.

 

The team finished third in the St. Mary’s A Team Tournament on February 5 and the Lady Jr.

Jackets were runners-up with a second place finish in the 2022 Vicki Jany Tournament hosted by St.

John February 26.

 

Chester Grade School will now advance to the State Sectionals March 26 at Nashville

and will face Aviston in the first round of sectional play.
