Waldo Leon DeLassus

A funeral will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 for 85-year-old Waldo Leon DeLassus of Chester, Ill, who passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022

at his home in Chester.

 

He was born September 11, 1936 in Kaskaskia, Ill, the son of Hugo J. DeLassus and Clarice M. DeLassus who both preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by a daughter: Natalie J. (Robert “Doc”) Powers of Springfield, Mo; a son: Douglas “Doug” (Erinn) DeLassus of St. Charles, Mo; a sister: Margaret Hendricks of Virden, Ill; the mothers of his children: Mary Jane Operle and Charlotte Hill; two grandsons: Logan and Alex DeLassus; four grand dogs: Tillie, Bitsy, Josie, and Shasta; a grand cat: Louie and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Barbara J. (Dick) Dethrow; a brother: John A. (Shirley) DeLassus; and a brother-in-law: James “Jim” Hendricks.

 

Waldo worked as an optician professionally.

 

After retirement he continued his work repairing eyeglasses for family, friends, and the local community.

 

He loved to spend time with his grandsons and found pleasure fishing with his buddies.

 

Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia, Ill.

 

A funeral for 85-year-old Waldo Leon DeLassus of Chester will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia, Ill, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1 p.m.

 

Burial will be at Kaskaskia Cemetery in Kaskaskia, Ill.

 

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia or VFW Post 3553 in Chester, Ill.
