Project Pioneer resumes monthly meetings Saturday, March 12

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve Project Pioneer will resume meetings with families whose names were drawn at the 2019 Jour de Fete, the French Michaud and Placit families and the German Oberle and Operle families on March 12, to continue preparations for the celebration at Jour de Fete in August. The meetings will be at 10 a.m. in the upstairs at the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center, 360 Market St.

Many early French names have died out in Ste. Genevieve County, however their descendants are still in the area. The Michaud and Placit families are among those whose descendants are carrying different family names. Michael Placet, who was among the early settlers in Ste. Genevieve, raised six daughters who married into other families, which over time, includes Moreau, LaHaye, Charleville, Bequette, Roussin, LaRose, Drury, Aubuchon, Politte, Dorlac and Govreau, and many others.
