STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve R-II School District’s Dr. Paul Taylor, Assistant Superintendent, and Bailey Otto, Director of Communications, will speak at the Ste. Genevieve County Democratic Club meeting on Wednesday, March 16, at the Steelworkers Union Hall, 950 S. Gabouri St.
The club will hold a brief business meeting at 6:30 pm followed by their presentation at 7:00 pm.
They will explain the priorities of the district’s Proposition SG bond issue, which will be on the April 5th ballot.
This proposal is a no-tax-increase bond issue. This is the culmination of nearly two years’ of long-range facility planning, studying, discussions and feedback through the Facilities Committee.
The proposed bond issue will provide the following:
—Building an Early Childhood Center on the west end of Maple Street
—Updating accessibility including a new entry at Ste. Genevieve
Elementary School, a renovated gym, and HVAC
—Reconfiguring entry, addressing the lagoon, and HVAC at
Bloomsdale Elementary
—Updating accessibility at Ste. Genevieve Middle School including an
elevator to the three floors, and HVAC
—Adding a gym at Ste. Genevieve High School and newly-renovated
weight and wrestling rooms, and updated restrooms
—Adding lights, fencing, bleachers and restrooms at Yanks & Leon’s
Field
—Updating technology infrastructure district wide
Taylor and Otto will review the ballot language which says that buildings will be modified to provide ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility; acquiring, constructing, renovating, expanding, improving, furnishing, and equipping school sites, buildings and related facilities; a new Early Childhood Center; gymnasium renovation and an addition of a practice gymnasium and weight room; baseball and softball fields lights, bleachers and bullpen fencing installation; and technology infrastructure updates across the district.
These are areas of focus that the district hopes to accomplish for its students and the community at large. The public is invited to this presentation which will inform voters what Proposition SG means for Ste. Genevieve County and give voters an opportunity to ask questions.
