PCMH’s private board to press its case for affiliation tonight

PERRYVILLE — Officials representing one of two Perry County Memorial Hospital boards will have their chance to discuss a potential partnership with another health care organization at a community forum planned for tonight at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 31 Church Stree, Perryville.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) at Knights of Columbus Hall.

The affiliation effort is coming from the private board which is not required to hold public meetings or make public the minutes of their meetings. Only two of its members are publicly-elected.

Patrick Naeger is a member of the public hospital board which holds open meetings and whose minutes are made available for all to read.

Naerger told the Sun Times News in an interview last week, that the private board has stripped the publicly-elected board of its power.

He would like to see the private board dissolved and have the public board run the hospital.

Tonight’s forum follows other forums regarding the future of the hospital, which sought partnership proposals in recent months.

Perry County Memorial has hired Newpoint Healthcare Advisors to negotiate a potential partnership, and the group’s president will conduct tonight’s forum.
