JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins submitted an official letter to Missouri’s members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday, Feb. 22, outlining the organization’s priorities as established by its membership. All Missouri Farm Bureau policies are written and voted upon by grassroots volunteer members.
“We are incredibly appreciative of the strong partnerships that Missouri Farm Bureau has formed with our elected officials over the years,” Hawkins noted in the letter. “Our organization will focus heavily on these issues, in addition to other issues that may arise that are consistent with our member-adopted policy.”
Key issues that were determined by the Missouri Farm Bureau Federation include: Revitalizing Rural Communities; Addressing Input Costs, Concentration, and Supply Chain Issues; Promoting Transparency in Cattle Markets; Regulatory Oversight; International Trade; and Laying the Groundwork for the 2023 Farm Bill.
With over 143,000 member families across the state of Missouri, Missouri Farm Bureau is the state’s largest agriculture-focused organization. Each of Missouri’s 114 counties has a local Farm Bureau organization and at least one local Farm Bureau office.
