HILLSBORO – Prospective students, along with their family and friends, are encouraged to “Reach for the Stars” while learning more about Jefferson College’s numerous high quality academic programs and support services, during the Preview Day open house on Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Hillsboro campus.
Attendees may stop by the open house at any time. There is no cost to attend; however, reservations are encouraged. Check in for Preview Day will be at the Library. Each prospective student will receive a t-shirt, campus map, and event schedule, and bag to carry items. Parking is available in the Orange lot.
The free event will allow attendees the opportunity to explore degree and certificate options, tour the campus, speak with faculty and staff members from a variety of academic programs and departments, learn about student resources and financial aid, explore on campus housing at Viking Woods, and visit with representatives from several transfer institutions.
Guided walking tours will depart from the Library every 20 minutes and participants will also have the option of taking a self-guided walking or driving tour. Golf cart tours will be available for those with mobility issues.
Jefferson College President Dr. Dena McCaffrey will give out free cookies, baked by students in the Culinary Arts program.

The Follett Bookstore will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and students will receive a discount on one apparel or gift item.
A variety of student services and campus resources will be represented including Admissions, Academic Success Center, Advising/Enrollment Services, Area Technical School, Athletics, Counseling, Disability Support Services, Library, MyMajors/Career Guidance, Student Financial Services, and Workforce and Employment Services.
Three general presentations will be held in the Student Center: Admissions at 9:30 a.m., Financial Aid at 10:30 a.m., and Campus Resources at 11:30 a.m.
University representatives, representing a selection of the College’s partnerships with four-year institutions, will be available in the Student Center Viking Room from 10 a.m.-noon.
Several events will be happening around campus including viewings at the Jefferson College Observatory, USAA Junior Volleyball tournaments, Vikings softball games, and the Theatre Department’s spring play production “5 Women Wearing the Same Dress.”
