COVID 19 cases are down in Perry Co., up in Ste. Genevieve

JEFFERSON CITY — The number of new COVID-19 cases had been falling steadily in Perry and Ste. Genevieve Counties and in all of Missouri in the past several weeks, but this week is different.

 

Perry County and Missouri are down, but Ste. Genevieve County is up.

 

According to figures from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the number of confirmed and probable cases statewide for the seven days ending February 22 was 5,327 which was 4,524 fewer than the 9,851 reported for the seven days ending February 15th. That is a drop of nearly 46 percent.

 

In Perry County there were eight new confirmed and probable cases during the seven days ending February 22 which was down 67 percent from the  24 new cases of COVID-19 reported during the seven days ending Februrary 15th.

 

In Ste. Genevieve County there were 23 new cases during the seven days ending Februrary 22, which was an increase of five new cases, or 28 percent from the the 18 reported during the seven days ending February 15th.

 

The Department of Health and Senior Services reports the state vaccination rate is 56 percent. Perry County is 40.5 percent vaccinated and Ste. Genevieve County is 46.6 percent vaccinated.
