Infant girl seriously injured in I-55 crash

JEFFERSON CITY — A one-year-old baby girl from Germantown, Tennessee, was seriously injured in a traffic crash on I-55 in Perry County late Tuesday morning.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the infant was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau by ambulance.

The patrol says the child was a passenger in a southbound 2014 Honda Accord being driven by 33-year-old Lei Shaohua, also of Germantown, Tennessee. She was not hurt. The patrol says both the driver and infant were using safety devices.

The patrol says the crash happened when the Honda ran off the right side of the road and overturned.

The crash happened about 11:02 a.m. south of mile marker 134.8.
