PERRYVILLE – A St. Vincent High School student has been selected as one of this year’s recipients of the Archbishop May Service Award.
Lacci Gibbar joins a senior from each high school in the Archdiocese of St. Louis who also were chosen to receive this award.
The award has been established in honor of former Archbishop John L. May to recognize young people who have given extraordinary service, to recognize the schools for promoting such service, and to encourage all young people to dedicate themselves to service.
This is what St. Vincent High School Religion teacher, Drew Garvey had to say about Lacci:
“Miss Lacci Gibbar is highly deserving of the honor of being the Archbishop May Service Award recipient. She is an excellent example of rendering Christian Service within her school and her community.
Averaging 106 hours of service per year since her freshman year of high school, Lacci is well on her way to matching that average her senior year. She has served St. Vincent (SV) in numerous ways, including giving open house tours, stuffing newsletters for the SV Alumni Association, volunteering on Luke 18, serving at Mass, and teaching kids at SV’s Vacation Bible School. She has served the community by volunteering at the annual Seminary Picnic and serving meals to the Immanuel Lutheran School Veterans. Lacci’s service also extends beyond her immediate community. She helped build homes in Indiana through Operation Overhaul, and she has twice attended the March for Life in Washington D.C.
Lacci Gibbar is a model student of St. Vincent de Paul High School. She has allowed the grace of the Holy Spirit to permeate her entire life, and has thus become an example of virtuous living for her peers and teachers alike.”
Lacci has been invited to the Archbishop May Service Award Event at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis!
