Perryville, the Karst Capital of Missouri, hosts cave and karst public events

PERRYVILLE — The Cave Research Foundation joins the Missouri Speleological Survey, and Missouri Caves and Karst Conservancy, in cooperation with the City of Perryville to present Perry County Underground.

 

Perry County Underground educational events are free, open-to-the-public events and include the Saturday, March 5 showing of the ‘Karst in Perry County’ documentary at 6 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., and a Sunday, March 6 Cave and Karst Open House from 1-5 p.m. Both events will be held at the Catalyst Center for Business Event Center located at 508 N. Main Street.

 

The Sunday afternoon Cave and Karst Open House will feature exhibits from several groups and agencies, with representatives present to answer questions and provide information about caves, karst, bats, strange fish, and other things going on underground in Perry County.

 

Exhibiting organizations include: Missouri Speleological Survey, Missouri Caves and Karst Conservancy, Missouri Department of Conservation, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Missouri Geologic Survey, Missouri Bat Census, L-A-D Foundation, SEMO Grotto, and Cave Research Foundation.
