A funeral will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022 for 78-year-old Rosemarie “Rosie” C. Mudd of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., who passed away at 3:12 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, Mo.
She was born May 23, 1943 in Paderborn, Ill. the daughter of Henry H. and Veronica M. (nee Ehrstein) Kettler who both preceded her in death.
Rosie married Douglas J. Mudd on April 1, 1967 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Paderborn, Illinois; he survives in Prairie du Rocher.
She is also survived by five children: five children: Julie (Michael) Carle of Prairie du Rocher, Christine (David) Krebel of Prairie du Rocher, Steven (Kenia) Mudd of Prairie du Rocher, Todd Mudd of Prairie du Rocher, and Andrew (Amanda) Mudd of Prairie du Rocher; four sisters: Barbara (Elmer) Beeherer of Trenton, Ill., Bernice (Albert) Macy, Columbia, Ill., Jo (Butch) Krieg, Belleville, Ill., Melinda (Larry) Nobe of Venedy, Ill.; a sister-in-law: Judy (Fred) Deterding of Modoc, Ill.; nine grandchildren: Madeline, Olivia and Meg Carle, Ethan and Emma Krebel, Katelyn and Evan Mudd, Emily and Alison Mudd; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her in-laws: Justin and Mary Mudd and two brothers: Donald Kettler & David Kettler.
She was a homemaker for many years and also worked at the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in Ruma, Illinois in the housekeeping department until her retirement.
She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois and she was devout in her faith.
She was a faithful worker at the parish picnic, the winter breakfast fundraiser and was on the church decorating committee.
She served on the school board at Prairie du Rocher Community Consolidation School District No. 134 from 1981-1993.
She was active in the Cub Scouts in Prairie du Rocher for 15 years, where she was a den leader, cub master and unit commissioner.
Rosie enjoyed being with her family, working in her vegetable garden and flower bed, canning, cooking and baking and embroidery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8-9:15 a.m. Thursday at the Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud, Illinois.
A funeral mass for 78-year-old Rosemarie “Rosie” C. Mudd of Prairie du Rocher will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher. Fr. Sebastian Ukoh will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois
