PERRYVILLE — Perry County Health Systems CEO Chris Wibbenmeyer says Perry County Memorial Hospital continues to perform elective surgeries, and routine care, despite what had been a surge in COVID-19 numbers.
Wibbenmeyer said during the past two weeks Perry County Health System’s COVID inpatient census has averaged between eight and 10 patients. None of them are on a ventilator.
“At Perry County Health System, we are still offering elective surgeries and routine care to our community, despite the surge in COVID cases” he said.
Figures released by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services show the surge may be subsiding as the number of new COVID-19 cases appears to be falling, both locally and statewide.
Perry County had 222 confirmed and probable cases for the week ending January 14th, down five percent from the seven days ending January 13th.
That’s a daily average of 32 new cases a day.
There were no deaths during the period.
The vaccination rate in Perry County is 39.8 percent.
Ste. Genevieve County had 101 new confirmed and probable cases during the seven days ending January 14th, a 15 percent decline over the seven days ending January 13th.
That’s an average of 14 new cases a day.
The vaccination rate in Ste. Genevieve County is 45.8 percent.
The total number of confirmed and probable cases in Missouri for the seven-day period ending January 14 was 69,111 which is down nine percent from the 76,315 reported on January 13.
The average number of confirmed and probable cases per day was around 8,873.
The number of confirmed and probable deaths during the period was 34.
The vaccination rate in Missouri is 54.6 percent for those who have completed the vaccination series.
