Robert ‘Bob’ Junior Hooten

A funeral will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 for 84-year-old Robert “Bob” Junior Hooten of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, who passed away at 4:48 am, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at St. Louis VA Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri.

 

He was born March 19, 1937 in Renault, Illinois the son of Walter Robert and Dolly Myrtle (nee Wheat) Hooten who both preceded him in death.

 

Bob married Elizabeth “Betty” Moll on May 30, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; she survives in Prairie du Rocher.

 

He is also survived by nine children: Roger (Frances) Hooten of Wamego, Kansas; Marilyn (Steve) Weber of Fults, Illinois, Kerry (Rhonda) Hooten of Prairie du Rocher, Judy (Mike) Pour of Red Bud, Illinois, Brian (Kim) Hooten of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Teresa Guebert of Red Bud, Robbie (Heather) Hooten of Prairie du Rocher, Natasha Hooten (Fiance Joe Mollet) of Prairie du Rocher, and Sarah Hooten of Prairie du Rocher, a daughter-in-law: Barbara Hooten of Red Bud; seven siblings: Goldie Juelfs of Red Bud, Virginia Murray of Death Valley, California, Mary Veach of Prairie du Rocher, Curtis (Rose) Hooten of Farmington, Missouri, Kenny (Sandy) Hooten of Stillwater, Oklahoma,

Bernice Herring of Prairie du Rocher, and Jimmy (Patty) Hooten of Steeleville, Illinois; 26 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by a son: Harold Hooten; a son-in-law: Jeff Guebert; a sister: Susie Wall; an infant brother, and three grandchildren: Levi Hooten, Angel Hooten and Joseph Mollet, Jr.

 

He had worked as a journeyman printer at Spartan Printing for 36 years.

 

Bob was a commercial fisherman and operated Hooten’s Fish Stand for more than 40 years.

 

He enjoyed trapping and hunting in his early years.

 

Bob was a great story teller of years past.

 

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 622 both in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, V.F.W. Post No. 6632 in Red Bud, Illinois and the Fort de Chartres Gun Club.

 

He was a Korean War Army veteran.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022 and 9-11 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud.

 

A funeral for 84-year-old Robert “Bob” Junior Hooten of Prairie du Rocher will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. Fr. Sebastian Ukoh will officiate.

 

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Renault, Illinois.

 

Memorials may be made to the Fort de Chartres Gun Club.
