A private memorial service will be held at a later date for 73-year-old Donald G. McNeely of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 10:24 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois.
He was born February 15, 1948, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the son of Henry and Tommie (nee Jones) McNeely who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his significant other: Jean Hall of Chester; six children: Gary McNeely of O’Fallon, Ill., Nell Sanders of Granite City, Ill., Cindy Meneffe and family, Brandy Gendron and family, Sarah Caron and family and Tim Hall and family; a brother: Danny McNeely of the state of Alabama; a niece: Sandy Pool and family of Granite City, Ill.; and three grandchildren: Tristen Sanders, Morgan Sanders and Edward McNeely.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Jim and Billy McNeely.
He had worked as a caretaker for home health.
Donald loved being a grandpa to the many, many grandkids that he loved dearly.
He also enjoyed telling stories of his adventures and tinkering with things.
He was a proud Vietnam Army veteran.
It was Donald’s wish to be cremated.
